I would love you to all welcome the latest family member to the datty household. She is a beautiful, dainty little girl, with adorable paintwork. The table is a little bit battered, and in need of TLC, but I am astonished at how good the decals are. (click on the images if you want to see them bigger)

The guy I bought it from, said it was from 1924, and originally his grandmothers. I am so pleased it has come to me. I haven't tested her yet, but even if she doesn't sew, she is beautiful to look at.

What a gorgeous machine! She is covered in tattoos. And that table is to die for. Like you said, even if she doesn't sew, she will look stunning as a piece of furniture. You scored well.

Gorgeous, beautiful machine. I am sure it will work, i have two that have easily one my heart but the machines are no where near this condition and sew without too much work on them

Lovely.. how great that the decals are in such good shape.. I would say this machine had been taken well care of.. and I bet she sews fine.. You might want to read thru the archives to get tips on how to care for her..

oohhhh you are so lucky. Your machine is to die for, absolutely beautiful. Congratulations and I hope you have many many hours of sewing pleasure with her. Would be interesting to see pictures of her stitching, so if you get something made on her, please post.

GORGEOUS!!!

I'm willing to bet it sews just fine - although it might need a little cleaning and oiling for optimum performance. Judging by the fact that both the machine head and cabinet are beautifully maintained, there is no reason to think that the working mechanisms are in any less fine of condition. And unless the machine had been severely neglected (i.e. never been oiled and left in a barn to rust) it should work literally forever. And of course there is no motor or electrical issues to worry about!

Enjoy your beautiful new machine and let us know how it works. :)

PS... it looks like you have a newish belt on there, so it must have been kept up and used sometime within recent history.

I agree with everyone else. Gorgeous machine, no reason it should not work as well as it looks. I have my Grandma's 1916 Singer 66 treadle redeye, in a less fancy cabinet, and use it when I want the finest stitch quality. Really nice machine, easy to use, works amazingly well.

Enjoy!

It looks like you got one with feet that attach via a side screw. They will be much easier to find vs. the back-clampers like mine has. Very nice!
