I sent my husband to Joann's to get me 1 spool of thread after work when he was running a few other errends he went even though he complained. He came out with 4 spools of gutterman and told me that it was 40% off and he got 4 spools. At least I will have plenty of thread to finish my daughter's dress for the sewing for children contest.

Wait--4 in the same color, or did he vary it? If the same, let's hope you sew something else in that color. Good for him for thinking of the savings of 40% off.

That reminds me of the first christmas when my now husband and I were dating. He asked me what I wanted and I mentioned that I needed a thread storage box to store the various spools of threads that I was starting to collect and told him where he could get one. Christmas morning, I open up my present, and there was the thread storage box I was hoping for, but he didn't want to give me an empty box, so he also bought spools of thread to completely fill it. Sadly, the threads were a lot of pastel colours that I don't even wear. While I've used them for basting, 20 years later, there are still some of those spools that have not yet been touched, and I still had to go out and buy a second thread storage container for the thread I already had.

Lol, my husband surprised me with a serger and a selection of different coloured thread cones - the biggest ones I've ever seen! 10 years later, I've just finshed off the black cone.

I think the green, orange and yellow ones will outlive me.

Can you exchange any colors you don't like (well not 20 years later obviously but you know what I mean!)

What a great thread: a thread about thread.

Those are some great stories.

Hug your husbands for being so thoughtful . . . even though they maybe didn't quite think it all the way through.

It was 2 each of white and black, in the biggest size they had.

I still get a chuckle over the time my then BF (now DH) "reorganized" my embroidery floss... by color. It looked really pretty, but man, was it tough tracking things down! (The floss is arranged by numbers, and often two adjacent numbers will belong to unrelated colors.) I left it for a week or so before surreptitiously putting it back to rights.

Sounds like a plan to me!
