Did anyone start watching that Tommy Hilfiger Thursday night show where he's going to pick a designer?

I saw the first show and it was okay, but nothing much about clothing design.

We've been discussing it on the Project Runway thread. We all seem to be in agreement - it's boring and has nothing whatsoever to do with sewing. On the bright side, Karla was in Daytona Trimmings in NYC when Tim Gunn came in with the latest group of designer hopefuls for the new season of PR! We're all very excited about that. I thought Tommy's show would have some actual designing and sewing but, as someone pointed out, how many different ways can you make jeans and an oxford shirt? ;-) He's certainly no Michael Kors. He's more like The Donald with better hair.

Really, if you wanted to see them trick out a couple of Navigators Pimp My Ride would be a much more entertaining show. They don't vote anyone off!

Thanks I do not have cable and therefore do not watch the Runway show so I was not reading that thread.

I love the Project Runway message board but especially enjoyed the catcalls and hissing and spitting of most FR members at Tommy Hilfiger's The Cut.
The New York Times Business section of June 5 ran a big story on the upcoming show which spelled it out to me that there wasn't going to be much clothing design. Not once did the article mention Project Runway which really irked me. During the opening moments of the actual show Hilfiger pointed out to the contestants that "this is not about fashion d esign, it is about creating a lifestyle." HUH? I am very pleased that People Magazine, June 20, critiqued The Cut by saying "The Cut might seem better were it not for its obvious similarities to ...The Apprentice and...Project Runway. The review closes with "...Hilfiger calls the billboards "underwhelming"--and so's the show. " Now you'll have to excuse me as I need to go practice hissing and perfecting my catcall for next week's show!
