I am having a hard time uploading my pictures to the Review Gallery. It's telling me that I can only up load JPG...that's what mine are. I've just lost my whole review, because I "timed out". Any suggestions?

You don't need to use Flickr if you don't want to for your reviews. I just launched photo upload for the pattern reviews, so you can easily upload upto 3 photos for each of your reviews.

Announcement of Photo Upload feature here

We must have been typing at the same time I erased and edited my first post. When I found I couldn't up lad from my own albums, that's when I went to Flickr. I'm not terribly computer smart, so when I saw the simple browser/up-loader on the gallery I was excited. I just don't understand why it wouldn't accept my three photos...I've always been able to use this method at the end of my review, when one picture was allowed.

Hoowah! Now I can upload directly from my computer!!

JTink, the problem with Flickr is that it has a lot of "flash", meaning, (and correct me if I'm wrong here, website techies!) ''movement'', and that movement takes memory. If you don't have enough memory, your computer will time out while trying to load photos into Flickr. I found this out the hard way. So I clear my cache and sometimes, not always, that helps.

Yeah always great things happening on here to make it easier!!

You are right on the flash/movement creating havoc with your computer. Rather it has to do with your connection to the internet and bandwidth. Clearing your cache and browser history is a good thing to do weekly as part of computer's maintenance, but a website with loads of ads bogs down your bandwidth creating time out issues. Most connecting via cable or broadband modems and they aren't able to accept or upload that many MegaBytes before they choke.

Deepika you work so hard making it better here, thank you so much!

... I've just lost my whole review, because I "timed out".

When writing a review (or anything else that I have put a fair amount of effort into & could possibly lose if there is a computer glitch), I copy the entire thing before hitting the send or save button. I might even paste it into a text file.

If you are using Windows, when your cursor is in the text of the review, pressing CTRL-A will select the entire text, then CTRL-C will copy it to the clipboard. That way, if something happens, you can just start a new review and, in the text of the review, press CTRL-V to paste the text back in. Then you only have to re-create the title & such.

There is this one computer system at work that has a tendency to time out, which is how I developed this habit!

You are all so helpful...I'm just so computer stupid! I don't understand what "clipboard" is. Don't know what "flash and movement" is. Don't know how to clear "cashe and Browser history"...totally computer stupid

I only tried Flickr when I couldn't upload them from my own album. I don't use Flickr much and when I went on there, I couldn't believe all the mess. It was hard to figure out how to even "share" and transport my pictures.

I've always been able to post my pictures with ease at the end of the review, because they came directly from my own album. But for some reason, after I choose my 3 pictures and clicked to continue, it said only jpg(and some other type of letters), were accepted. Mine are jpg. I have been having trouble posting pictures on e-mail and Facebook using Internet Explorer. I can do it using Chrome. I'll try the review again, using Chrome this time. Husband also installed a new router and it seems to have sped everything up a bit.

Hi, I'm pretty computer savvy but I can't delete my post nor can I upload pictures. Does the photo uploader work on the message boards or just reviews? Why doesn't Shutterfly or Flickr have the ability to copy the URL any more?
Thanks.

Glad I'm not the only one with this problem. I don't feel so "alone"

I'm overwhelmed by the new look of Flickr. It's a mess. I did get it figured out and added the thumb nail. My trouble starts when I'm trying to add those three pictures at the end of my review. It tells me they have to be jpg. Mine are jpg.

And the review didn't even get put on the Gallery. I don't know what's happening. And those pics were coming from my own album with a basic up loader. I've never had an issue with it before. I might try a quickie review as a test. I just can't take the time to write a full review only to have all those problems posting it.
