Greetings PR Friends,

My daughter requested I make a hand made version of a $160 stretch pencil skirt designed for bicycle riding. She sent me a picture of a retail one that has a zipper down the back that opens to add 12 inches of a lightweight pleat for riding comfort.

Does anyone have a pattern to suggest, have you done this, and do you have any fabric suggestions? The one she liked is made from "structured 4 way stretch." I think it is nylon and lycra.

Thanks!

Didn't you just post this same query the other day?

That reminds me of the jeans that you can put on over boots then zip up tight.
If you dont find your pattern I would think most any pencil skirt pattern would work. You could use the right side seam (if she is right handed) to add the extra pleated fabric section.

You could check any RTW (pant or skirt) for how they inserted the zipper and fabric into the seam.
Sounds cute and practical.

check Green Pepper patterns - they have a lot of outdoorsy sport-related clothes.

I made one the other year for horseback riding but would work for bike riding too. I did a A line skirt and had zippers running from bottom to top mid front and mid back
