DH found a nearly-full box of these at an antique sale today for $5.00. Evidently they're not (necessarily) vintage--they're still being made and sold in the same packaging. He's bummed, but I say he still got a great deal--B Black & Sons has them for $12.00.

I'm curious about actually *using* them. I would suspect they're ideal for marking dark wool suiting, but am wondering about removing the marks. They texture is very waxy--a "chalk crayon," just as it says! If they're good, I am stocked up for life. LOL

Mine are yellow, but look essentially the same as this:

Are they familiar to anyone?

Thanks!!

Wawak still sells them and here's their product description .

"PMC Wax Crayons - 12/Pack - White
PMC Wax Crayons do not leave a permanent mark. The mark can be removed with a hot iron. Ideal for dart and edge marking. Used generally for button holes or slot marking on heavier fabrics. 5" x 3/8"."

Interesting that it comes off with hot iron. I might have to buy some if these.

I heard or read somewhere, I can't remember where, only the white disappears. I'd test first.

I have the yellow version-- which is poisonous to boot. Bought on a whim. I haven't tried the hot iron trick.

If you like them, get the sharpener (which can also be used for those dritz chalk pieces.)

For what it's worth, here's the manufacturer's page.

Tried it on a scrap of red polyester satin fabric. It fades, but it doesn't really fade into nothingness. I'll keep it around, see if I can still see the marks after a few days.

Looks to me like regular old tailor's chalk. When my husband buys a suit, it's what they use to mark alterations.

I'm on wawak trying to decide between these -- the 48 pack of tailors wax--and the 12 pack of PMC wax crayons, the ones that look like pencils. Anyone know the difference?
