Bias Tape Machine
Is it of any value?

I've made several table runners and placemats with bias tape edging which is a pain. Simplicity has an "Auto-Feed" machine that accommodates several sizes of tips. It looks good but does anybody have practical experience with it or is it a waste of money?

There are two previous threads about this.
Use the Search feature and type in 'Simplicity Bias Tape Maker'.
You'll find all kinds of comments.

The quick answer: For me it didn't work, I sent mine back.

Honestly I can make my bias strips much faster without the machine.

I have seen what you are talking about in advertisements, but I actually think it's fun to make bias tape with my little metal Prym 25mm bias tape maker and iron. No matter what, you still have to cut the strips and to me that's the most work. I like to feed the strips through the bias tape maker and use the iron to make it come to fruition. Maybe I'm just weird - LOL. If I made tons of bias tape, though, I might look into the machine.

At various times I've considered the Simplicity Bias tape makes, but I just can't figure out how it would save me time---nor make a nice even crease in the fabric.

So, it's interesting reading remarks here---

There is a built in heating element, so that might do it.

I have the Simplicity Bias Tape Machine and have never been able to make bias tape as easily and with the good results I get from my little manual Clover tools. Angela Wolff has a video on the Simplicity machine and in her hands, it is wonderful. Just didn't work for me.

I've only used it once. I borrowed my quilting teacher's one to make lots of bias strips. I loved it. It was fast, easy, with a super crisp fold. If I was making a lot of binding I'd buy one.
