My local sewing store is selling the Baby Lock Imagine for $1699 with a trade in. When I said I didn't have a trade in, she said there was a junk serger in the back I could have. The retail price is $500 more without a trade in. They will throw in 6 feet, but no book.

Is this a good deal? What did you pay?

That was the same price I was quoted a couple days ago in a Texas dealership. (It is the closest dealership to me.) But there was no mention of trade in. For what it is worth.

If you're paying cash, or not financing, I'd offer $1500 out the door with all the goodies. I purchased an Enlighten just this past February for $1850 total (including the tax) out the door and that came with the package of 6 feet and the workbook. Plus, I had not trade in. But I paid cash (check really) and did not finance. Credit cards eat up about 2-3% of the total charge and financing costs dealers almost 10%. So sometimes they figure that in the price they quote and when you offer cash, you might get a better deal.

Wow! Those are some pretty amazing prices. I thought I got a good deal on my Enlighten in June but it was not close to what you posted. My dealer always has prices that are more than fair. I wonder what the scoop is?

Wow, k curtis, is this a dealer anyone can buy from? I haven't seen prices that good even on Craigslist! I'm going to send you a private message. Thanks!

To 1975Jumby, I spoke with my dealer and they said they'd take 3% off for cash/check. But their Enlighten is $2999 - yikes! I want your pricing. Was your machine a trade-in or reconditioned? Thanks for the help and input. I will you a private message too.

Anyone else want to add info to this thread?

You shouldn't pay any more than $1300 for it. Shop around.

i paid $1899 for an Imagine last Nov with no trade-in. I would think with the new models out they would be cheaper. It is possible I could have gotten a better price at another dealer, but the next Babylock dealer is over 50 miles away. You have to give some thought to where you are going if you have questions or get into trouble. I wish there was better price competition for Babylocks....

Now a Babylock girl almost all the way - Ellegante 3, Evolution, and Melody. Plus a Sailrite LSZ-1 for those heavy duty projects
