I've just sewn the collar + stand into the current shirt, this time using The Perfect Collar Points tutorial (great, see posts passim) and this time using my own on-the-fly technique to get those pesky collar stand+front facings lined up. This has worked to within 1/2 millimeter, so still not perfect.

Since then I've found this tutorial and would be glad if other shirt makers can look at it, please?

http://foursquarewalls.blogspot.co.uk/2013/09/sewing-collar-different-order.html

She attaches the interfaced collar band to the shirt first, all by itself. Okayyyyyyy.......

Then she uses the same tutorial to make perfect collar points, Okayyyyy......

We are up to Picture 6. OK.

My problem is with picture 7.

Quote:
NOW is when you attach the uninterfaced collar stand piece (inner collar stand) to the whole shebang, right sides together, matching centers and edges.

Picture 7,

Which clearly shows an interfaced piece being sewn on. Therefore she has both sides of collar stand interfaced. This also shows in Picture 8.

This makes no sense. No one in the comments underneath has commented on this.

What am I missing here?

Are you saying that the top piece in picture 7 (and 8) is interfaced? I don't think it is. That's just the wrong side of that particular fabric. If you look at the first picture you posted, you'll see that the interfaced portion (inside the seam allowances) of the piece is much whiter. You can't see the pattern through it.

Good Lord, Petite, I think you are right. It never occurred to me that a dark green fabric would have a white reverse. Thank you for putting that particular bit of mind at rest.

I can also see now (thanks to you) that the extreme left hand edge of the uninterfaced stand has its seam allowance turned up prior to sewing. The colours were not blindingly obvious to me before; now they are.
