I bought two yards of Cuzco Lodge felted knit from Fabric.com on sale. Just received it (they sent almost 2 1/3 yards) - it's beautiful but pretty heavy with just a 15% stretch. I was going to use a simple jacket pattern I have but it has a dart at the bust and I'm thinking it's too heavy for a dart. The pattern says can be used for LIGHTWEIGHT wools. All the jacket patterns I have with just princes seaming call for a lining and I don't want a lining. I also don't want it to be a really boxy shape. Any suggestions for a simple, unlined jacket pattern that would work with this knit which is really more like a woven blanket fabric.

Does it have some drape to it, and not fray? I'm not sure what sort of style you are looking for, but I recently made up the Style Arc Harper jacket out of a knit with no stretch, just a tiny amount of give. It does have a center back seam you could take in for shaping.

I made this one last year...simple style, simple to sew. I don't remember offhand how much fabric it took.

What about Vogue 8893? Your fabric might be a little too heavy for it but it's worth a look (the knit Chanelish jacket by Claire Schaffer).

Can you just rotate out the dart in the pattern you have now?

Anne (clothingengineer) - this is a great suggestion. I thought this pattern called for a lightweight knit (just looking at the drawing) and I was not interested, but in the heavy weight it calls for, it is an appealing pattern Thanks!

I just ordered fabric for Vogue 1263

Also like the Sandra Betzina jacket Vogue 1364. She has a video about this jacket on her web site

The German pattern company Schnittquelle has a lot of pretty jacket patterns designed for boiled wool.

They are generally unlined, without facings, raw-edged, and as you see, often shapely. The pattern descriptions tell you what weight boiled wool works best (if you don't read German, many people here can translate).
