The sleeveless stuff is because many people (who are not me) like to wear sleeveless formal dresses to parties.

I was JUST about to post a topic re: the release. Bland. Very bland.

The sleeveless dress thing in the Fall/Winter annoys me to no end. Totally non-functional for those of us who live with real fall/winter climates

Sewing patterns have never had a lot of sleeves in the patterns from about mid 50s on that I have been able to find, and they have just added less and less and time goes on.

I've spent so many years walking armsyces and adding my own sleeves to things I just don't pay much attention to it anymore.

As to this release, I can't think of anything I liked from it. Good for my pocket book and space, though.

Great collection, My picks are 6839,6844, and maybe 6838. McCall's really played around with their fabric selection.

Nothing interesting for the non-party crowd.
Of course, copies from Runway shows assume that's the stuff of our lives.
Around here legs and arms have to get covered for the winter, (sometimes twice), so not even skirts are seen, unless you're in a dressier office.
Where are some new interesting, but not voluminous tops and jackets?
I'm waiting to see what embellishments to add to basics--ruffles, flowers, ruching getting old?

Pattern "fashion" bland and uninspiring. Nothing new and fresh to my eye. I've decided the high low dress hem thing is about as silly looking as a mullet haircut.

I agree with sewcool21 that 6844 is a nice, basic cardigan (esp view A). I'm not into shawl collars personally, however I imagine it's pretty easy to get rid of it and bind the edges.

I also think that View D of 6833 is a really nice dress, though I do wonder about that bust seaming for the non-B cup set. The overall silhouette is really nice.

I can see both of them paired nicely for winter (granted, I'm in Coastal Canada... rainy but mild): the dress in a wool tweed or crepe (gabardine too?), and the cardigan in a luxe sweater knit or ponte.
