I'm making it now and it's a dream to trace, cut and sew.

If you are a beginner or if you haven't tried knits, this is a great pattern.

Heck - it's a great pattern if you've sewn for years. Instant gratification and a beautiful fit.

I have a bit of a tummy and felt - after reading her directions - that I should try leaving the front darts unsewn. I tried it on after basting and it fit perfectly. I love the way she guides you through the basting and fitting even having you check the side seam to make sure it's straight.

Other reviewers felt it wasn't necessary to buy her elastic. I'm using some off an old spool I have in my sewing room. Honestly it didn't feel "secure" but I've been sewing yoga pants. The 2" wide elastic that the pattern recommends for yoga pants feels "stronger" than the 3/4 I'm using.

If I wind up being able to actually wear this skirt, I may spring for her elastic (or look at new elastics at the fabric store). Maybe mine is just too old.

I'll try to get the nerve to get pictures and post a review but in the meantime, this pattern deserves a look.

Love it when something works without too much struggle. Where did you get the pattern....directly from her website?

I just purchased this pattern! So glad it is as advertised. Going shopping today and may purchase some fabric and notions to give this one a whirl sooner rather than later. Thank you so very much for posting!

This is one of my favorite patterns. I've lost count how many times I've made it, or how many times I've used it to compare other skirt patterns to it for sizing.

Pamela's elastic is good stuff, but other good quality knit elastic works too. And sometimes it's easier to buy locally. But if not, don't hesitate to buy from her site. You won't be sorry.

You can buy it from her website but I bought my copy from Fabric Mart. I was buying ponte knit for yoga pants and thought - what the heck (and it was Debbie Cook's review that really sold me on this pattern).

I'm working on it now. I'm taking my time to really figure out how to serge it together perfectly (in other words, I never taken the time to learn how to sew precise seams, inward corners, etc. with my serger.)

I just have a feeling I'll be making lots of these skirts and there's no reason not to nail this one!

I finished everything but the hem.

I always wonder if my stitching is right as I stretch the elastic and sew it to the garment. I found this tutorial from Nancy Zieman and loved her comment "this is what real sewing looks like".

I love this skirt pattern. It is my go to pattern for a knit pencil skirt. I have probably made 10 of these over the past 3 years.

I'm thinking of purchasing this pattern. I read in some of the reviews that this skirt runs large. My hips are 33" and the smallest size for the pattern is 36". So is it worth altering or would it be too much trouble? Is there another pattern that anyone can suggest that is similar and runs true to size?

Thanks

There is but one pattern piece (but it's worth it) and it's cut on the fold. I would think you could just push the fold edge of the pattern over the fabric for it to be smaller. Make one knit "muslin" to test and you should be good to go.

One of these days, I'm going to do a series of Magic Pencil hack on my blog to show how easy it is to get a few more shapes/designs from this one pattern piece.

I love this pattern, in case it's not obvious.

Ooh Debbie, you have me excited about this pattern! I would love to see you do a hack on your blog. Please let me know if you decide to do this. I think I may go ahead and purchase this pattern. Thanks for the reply
