I am happy to post that we are coming close to completing the first phase of UI changes to PatternReview.com.
It has been a difficult task to make the changes so that site still feels like home while looking more modern. Let me explain. PatternReview is a content rich site and it is difficult to incorporate some of the more modern components without sacrificing some of the functionality. That is the reason it has taken this long. Iíve been working on it for more than a year and this is the 2nd version of the design which I am OK with. As most of you know, PatternReview has, and will always be a labor of love for me, so you can understand when I say this, I am nervous and excited at the same time
While there is still work left, at this time I am looking for some users who are willing to use the redesigned site and provide feedback. If you have any experience with UI design or web designing, that would be an added bonus. I am asking for help from you all because who else knows the site better than you.
We have set it up so that both the new site and the existing site use the same database so users can actually go back and forth (if they want) between the two front-ends and any posts are visible to the whole community regardless of which front end they are posted on.
Depending on the feedback from these initial users, I may open the new site to everyone after incorporating changes or go through another round of feedback.
If you are interested in getting access to the new site please send me an e-mail at email@example.com. Please also indicate if you have any web design and development experience.
I would love to have a look at the new site if you're still offering. I may be new to sewing but I do websites for a living. I also have a slew of designer friends who could help out. Let me know and I will give you my info. -- Edited on 2/20/14 8:59 PM --
