One of my friends is paying me to make him a kilt. Anyone have any ideas for a potential pattern or will I be drafting this thing myself?

You can find great tutorials online and free instructions and illustrations to make a kilt.

There's a Simplicity one--S8913--from what they call the "Celtic Costume Collection."

Hmm, I'll check and see if that Simplicity is in stock at my local store. Either that one of this one that I found, which is actually kind of perfect: http://www.simplicity.com/p-8490-burda-style-skirt.aspx#t-0

Ah, no, this is a project for a very specific purpose. It's actually a snitching kilt for quidditch, so I'm definitely sewing this. A) he's paying me, and B) I have the potential to sell more of these to other people. When I snitched at my last quidditch tournament, I wore a skort that I had made from the Megan Nielsen Tania culottes pattern. Everyone loved it, and even better, my friend that this kilt is for wore it when he couldn't find his own snitching shorts. It hilariously fit him perfectly and inspired him to commission a legit kilt from me.

He so pulls it off, right? For an explanation about snitching and quidditch, check out my blog post about it.

Thanks for the link. For the future reference of anyone on this site that ends up here looking for a kilt pattern: http://www.scottishtartans.org/Box_pleat_low_res_ver_1.1.pdf

I found that on the site you linked me too and it's very informative. I might just use that to make this for my friend.
