I am about to purchase the Pfaff Quilt Expression 4.2 and wondered if anyone had suggestions for the best/most useful feet for quilting and general craft sewing to purchase in addition to the standard feet that come with the machine?

The bi-level edge feet (right edge bi-level and bi-level Topstitch is the left one), narrow edge foot, open toe Sensormatic (I use it for FMQ), and the 1/4" flanged foot are the ones that i probably use most. :). The first 3 I use very often when I make bags or sew garments.

I use the 1/4 inch with guide, edge joining foot, open toe applique and also the echo quilting foot - these I bought extra. I use these alot; the echo quilting foot makes it easy to echo around any object. I prefer the 1/4 inch with guide to the regular 1/4 inch that comes with the machine. I actually use the edge joining foot to get an accurate stitching when putting on binding. The open toe applique is a must for applique and also to sew on buttons. I also bought the spring free motion foot and use it more than the sensormatic that comes with the machine.

I purchased this machine two weeks ago, an early Christmas present!I had retired my first Pfaff, a 1475CD in 2011 for a Janome Horizon and found I didn't like it at all, so I sold it to get another Pfaff.

I won a Pfaff "Quilter's Toolbox" on Ebay last week, it has some feet with it as well as a single hole throat plate & a few other things.

I am writing down the feet suggested here and will take the list with me next time I visit the Pfaff dealer, who is unfortunately 2 hours away. Is there an online source that sells genuine Pfaff feet for a good price?

Can't wait to have some time to play with my new QE 4.2 this Saturday!

Best,
Ann in NC

Congratulations Ann! I am picking up my 4.2 this afternoon and can't wait to get to know her better! The Janome Horizon was the machine I was originally going to upgrade to, as I have been sewing on a janome 6600P for a number of years now. However, I needed a smaller, lighter machine for classes, quilt group etc and was taken with the Pfaff Passport 2.0 (mainly because of the dual feed, which i was used to on the Janome). I was so impressed with the Passport that I started to look at Pfaffs and the rest, as they say, is history! Looking forward to hearing how you find your new machine.
