To quote JEF in our last fabric fast

Quote:
This is the most flexible fast you'll ever be on because you set your own rules and exceptions to those rules.

I'm trying to downsize my stash total to a more manageable level, so my next target is to get it to 750m by the end of 2014. That's pretty much my rule - use or lose another 50m in a year so that means minimal buying.

I'm in! I did buy some quilting cottons yesterday but I am making gifts with them.

My short term goal is no new apparel fabric until. Jan 1. I have so much pretty fabric to use. I may slurge on some nicer fabrics once in awhile.

My short-term goal is to not fabric shop tomorrow! My local fabric shop is having 40% off. I keep telling myself I don't need fabric for my 2nd quilt when I haven't started my 1st. If I don't spend hours shopping I can sew, right?

I feel joining this thread tonight is a timely intervention. After tomorrow I'll think about livable parameters. I joined last year and did pretty well for a good long while. The camaraderie and good humor is truly helpful. Best go sew on my bra now. Too bad it uses such beensy yardage.

Rather than UFOs, I want to work on my NSPs....not started projects! I have downsized quite a bit over the last year in the spirit of this thread...at least 50 yards are gone due to fabric swaps or plain old giving it away...along with actually using it for either stuff I had planned on or unexpected stuff but it's gone nonetheless

I do plan to buy tomorrow...I am trying to be good about it but it may end up being more than I anticipate simply because these deals are too tasty to give up ^^;;

------
2014 resolution: keep track of sewn yardage!! I'm subtracting fabric given away from my yardage in. Yeah!
In: 93 yards
Sewn: 57 yards

I'll try anything once :)

Please excuse my typos...sometimes it is harder to go back and edit on mobile than it is worth!

Thanks for starting this & yes I am in. I didn't get as much sewn this past year that I wanted to, but I didn't purchase hardly any fabric either. So my main goal is to sew more with very little acquisition and reduce my stash.....hmmmm lets hope by minimum 50 yards and hopefully more than double that amount!!! Along the way the UF projects also to be completed!

Count me in! After a huge splurge early October I realize I've got enough quilting fabric for 30 quilts!!

My mostly hard and fast rule - I won 1000 Quilters points from my favorite quilt store, so I can spend that and only buy thread, batting or spray.

Not even going to look at the ads, I will be tempted and I do not need it.

Ha ha. Perhaps 2014 for me will be the year I really do something about this!

Ok, my last fast continued for about 4 or 5 months, then I teetered-then tumbled-off the wagon for months at a time. I will attempt this again, but with full disclosure: 1) I have a Groupon deal for fabric at Paron- for which I already paid-so will be shopping in 2 weeks. 2) My daughter's prom is in June; if she decides she wants me to make her dress, we will have to choose fabric for her. 3) I absolutely will have to shop at the ETA Expo in NY (actually NJ) in August. Hopefully I will by then have made a dent in my embarrassingly large stash.

ETA: I will also be making a T-shirt quilt for my daughter for graduation, so I will need to get (her choice of ) sashing, backing, binding, and batting. Oh, and if Wendyrb is coming to NY again this summer, I am sure we will both indulge a bit, right, Wendy?

I am already off to an unpromising start.

I'm in, at least until summer. I've only been sewing a year, but I have so many knits that I really want to get sewn up. I was lucky enough to visit Colorado Fabrics on a trip to Denver earlier this month and went a little crazy with the pre-cut knits. I've got projects to use them, I want nice fitting t-shirts and dressier knit tops, I just need to sew them up.

The ASG is in St. Louis, only 100 miles from me, this summer and I'm planning a little trip, if I have any money left over after taking summer classes.

I'm in -- and will hopefully do much better than 2013.

Enough said
