Does anyone know of somewhere that sells the kind of fabric used for high end athletic wear? I just spent an INCREDIBLE amount of money for some teeny tiny work out clothes from Lullehmon for my much adored daughter. The entire time I was thinking "they want HOW much for knit fabric?" The only thing that even partially saved my sanity was the yoga pants were reversible. I'm a sucker for reversible anything

I know I can make very similar stuff for a fraction of the cost but need a source for the right fabric.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

Susan

The Rain Shed
and
Seattle Fabrics
come to mind. There are other places I have seen posted here at PR but I cannot remember which ones. Hopefully there will be more replies here.

Haven't used yet, & NAYY; but you might have a look at the extensive website, rockywoods.com. They seem to have a huge selection of many types of fabrics.

Add Rose City Textiles [RCT] in Portland, OR, to your list. I find their website sometimes confusing but if you call and speak to Annette and tell her what you want, she will send swatches. Happy sewing.

I like the lululemon luan fabric in black. So comfy & holds up well. Let us know if you find it or some other awesome fabrics. I only see swimsuit lycras and cotton &/or poly lycras in stores. Too heavy/too hot for me. Prefer wicking, cool, light (or luan if heavier), not compression/skin tight or clingy... I have suitable ready to wear, but don't find such fabrics available in the stores. Please share more sources! Thanks!!

Melissa of the blog Fehrtrade.com has a great post about this: Fehrtrade exercise fabrics post

I recommend you check it out. She's a keen runner and sews her own gear.

I just bought some black supplex for $12 a yard at Spandex House in NYC. I have yet to turn them into exercise gear, but it's on my "to do" list. The quality is very nice. I'm not sure if they will send swatches, but you could give them a call.
