We have filled all the Contest Manager positions for 2014!!
Thanks so much to everyone who offered to help. The Contest Manager does so much more than ensure that a contest runs smoothly, and we appreciate the work that goes into the job!

The list of Managers is below.

If you have never managed a contest before and are wondering what it entails, rest assured that it is not too difficult. You should have some computer skills, be able to start a discussion thread and enjoy leading members along during the contest. Obviously you need to be available during the timeframe of the contest you are managing- especially at the beginning of the contest and the end of the contest.

Other than that...

1. Post the rules developed by the Contest Committee.

2. When contestants have questions about what the contest entails, the Manager does his/her best to answer them.

3. When the Contest Manager can't answer a contestant's question, she should discuss the issue with the Contest Committee liason.

4. Assist contestants with adding their entries to the contest if they have trouble. Managers can refer to this tutorial:

Tutorial for Contest Managers

5. Inspire with examples, provide feedback, encouragement, etc.

Commonly asked question!

Q. How much computer expertise do I need?

A. If you can post messages on the forum, then you have all the computer expertise you should need.

Raising hand.

I'm very flexible on which contest. Maybe the Inspired By Movies would be fun.

If someone else has their heart set on managing that one, as I said, I'm flexible & can change to something else.

Yes, Please! Waving hand in the air! I enjoyed managing last year. Only this year I'd love to be part of the Fabric stash contest rather than managing it.

If you haven't got someone for the New to me Pattern Co. I can do that. I rarely use a purchased pattern, so I wouldn't be planning on participating in it.

I also have a little question about the dates. There are a few misprints, I think, about the end of April, July and September. April finishes with the 30th so the first Challenge contest is a bit out unless you did plan for it to finish before the last day of the month.

and July finishes with the 31st. so Pattern Stash and Mini-Wardrobe look like they finish early.

And September ends on the 30th, so the Fabric Stash looks like it has an extra day.
Not to be pedantic, but hoping to avoid confusion when the time comes!

Can you still join the challenge if you're a contest manager? I'd like the vintage contest, but I very much want to join that one.

If not, then pants. I've never made a pair before so the chances of me entering that contest are about nill.

I could do the fitted blouse...since I don't wear them, there is no chance of my entering! Or any other one that you need.

Ooooh, how fun!

How about Vintage? Urban Fool, I don't think you can participate as a contestant -aka- get votes if you're a contest manager.

I'm not into vintage so I wouldn't enter that one!

Thanks for asking this! You are welcome to sew along with the challenge, however, you are not allowed to enter the contest if you're the manager.
