I have a singer sewing machine - model 2502 (I bought it in 1994). I would love to do the blind hem stitch (my boys keep growing taller, and I'm tired of hand hemming their pants!)
The machine comes with built-in straight stitch and zig-zag stitch only. I have a blind-hem foot, all I need is the stitch! Is there anything I can buy to add to my machine to allow this? If yes, where can I get it. When I bought the machine I was told that I could buy pattern discs for various stitch functions - but I've never found them anywhere.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks so much!

The singerco.com online manual indicates that this model was suppose to come with the blind hem pattern disc (flatter than a cam) #3. Are you the original owner? Does your sm have its manual?

At the top of your sm is there a flip lid and under there where a pattern disc would fit...not just a storage area for extra feet...but where a pattern disc would fit.

Edited to add: Found a site that has what is called a "new" Flat Cam Disk #3...maybe a reproduction? Can't vouch for the site or the product...just saying it's something to check into. Link: "New" Flat Cam Disk #3 for blind hem stitch

Another site link: Fashion Disk #3 Blind stitch

Can't vouch for this site either...just showed up in a search. Also neither sites lists the part as fitting a 2502...but from another source part # 276303 is the one for your sm...so contact customer service before ordering to make sure from them.

Thank you so much for answering so quickly! I unfortunately did not have internet access till just now.
I am the original owner. I do have the manual. The top of my machine has a flip lid for discs, but I have never had any discs to put there. It didn't come with any pattern discs. I think there was a similar model that did come with patterns. How I wish now, that I had gotten it then. I will try the links you posted. Thank you for your advice.

You're welcome.

Remember to call the sites' customer service to verify if it will work in your sm.

What does your sewing machines manual read about using discs?

I emailed both sites and the "vintage" one answered and said it would work for me. So I ordered one, and now I'm praying.
If it works, then I'll look for more pattern discs. My manual says that discs can be placed, but as I've said I've never tried it. Here's for learning new things!

no problem. It won't be for a while though.
I live in Israel. The part has been shipped to my parents already, and they are planning a visit to me at the end of Jan. Once they are here, I can try it. I'll let you know.
"Vintage", the site that sent me the part, did say that it was their last one, as their wholesaler does not have them in stock any more.

Okay, here's the update. Unfortunately, it won't work for me. When I lift the cover at the top I see that the pattern disc for zig zag is SCREWED into the place for the pattern discs. My machine has built in straight and zig zag, and I can't replace it with another. I tried placing the new disc on top of the zig zag one and it didn't do a thing. The only thing that could possibly work, is if I unscrewed the zig zag, but then there is nothing to lock the new disc in place, and it would be crazy to screw and unscrew the zig zag all the time, AND I don't even know if it would work, and I wouldn't want to risk breaking it. Why my machine has a lift cover at the top, I have know idea.
Very disappointing. Back to hand sewing for my boys' pants. Oh well. Thanks anyway for all your help. It was a good try.

Why don't you use long and wide zig zag stitch for hemming?
