Going to PR Weekend Austin!

Hi Guys,

We need to start planning the 3rd annual PR Weekend for November. This year the weekend will be in 2nd week of November - Fri-Sun (11,12,13). We will be staying at the Avalon hotel (same as last year).

Here's a rough agenda.

1. Friday night dinner - need to pick a restaurant.
2. Saturday morning sewing class and then proceed to fabric shopping
this year we will split the fabric shopping group into two based on the varied interests of everybody. Both will be managed by different people. One will be more towards casual fabrics - knits etc and the other towards more high end - couture - wovens, jacket fabrics... I will be managing the first group and if someone wants to volunteer to guide the second one, that would be great.

3. Lunch on saturday -- if we are a lot of people then Metro Cafe might not work so I'll need suggestions for a quick cafe.

4. Sunday morning - I was thinking we should do a quick gift swap before leaving.

Is there anything else you would like to do which you wish we had done last year?

There might be one really nice surprize for you if I am able to arrange it so I am not going to mention it unless its final.

In the meantime, please take this poll to give me an idea of how many are planning to attend. There will be a registration fee of somewhere around $100 - $125 which will include the dinner, sewing class and lunch on saturday.

Take the PR Weekend Poll

I'm in! And I'll help out any way I can, since I live here. I'd be willing to meet any early birds on Friday, as well.

I will present the idea to DH very gently, and at an opportune time. I've already been to NYC twice this year, and he knows that NYC is code for fabric shopping.... Sigh. I'd better dig out the sexiest lingerie I own.

Last year, he and I had lunch one weekend at Ben's in the Garment District. We were practically the only ones in there, so service was really fast. (Hint - split something. The sandwiches were huge.)

The only other suggestion I have is that the Saturday timetable might be better reversed. The fabric stores open at 9, but some of them close early on Saturday.

I would love to come. I too will have to tread DH gently as the 10th is our anniversary.

I think I might actually be able to do this trip this year! I have vacation time, it's less than a two hour flight, and I sacrificed going to Denmark for European PR weekend. I'll be there, lord willing and the creek don't rise.

I *MUST* make it this year: I live in midtown Manhattan, but somehow managed to be sent out of town for the last two meetups.

I personally would *love* some sort of fitting session/lesson...

Ok guys hold your breath! I've already talked to Kenneth King about this and it looks like this year it will be a class with Kenneth King on either Saturday or sunday morning. We'll hash out the details later.

Mary, I will definitely take you up on your offer.

So many wonderful people joining this year's PR Weekend, how can anything not be fun!!! I am soooo looking forward to it and this time I think instead of photos we might need a video camera to capture the fun
