Can hardly wait for lunch. We record nearly everything as our bedtime is 9pm- then watch during lunch or dinner.

I watched it last night and was really enjoying it and then I fell asleep in the middle of one of the commercials and missed the rest. Lots of talent there but the time constraint is very nerve wracking.

For anyone who missed it, you can watch it at the show's official website any time.

I liked that there was more focus on the design process and less on histrionics. Not so happy they broke the group into two. The second group will have a harder time of it, since there are fewer spots left, but not by a lot. It also means two weeks of intro before the regular competition gets started.

All three mentors came across as more credible than I was fearing. I might even go so far as to say I understand the choices better. Mondo for far-out design, Anya for styling, and Nick for technical expertise and experience as a designer and teacher.

I'm curious to see Tim's role during the actual competition. I also have to wonder if this show is an audition for Tim's replacement on Project Runway. I'm interested to see more.

I'm watching now, and Nick is really annoying me. The two other mentors talked about what they could do for the designers, and he was just all "I've done so much. I know so much." I wouldn't pick him either, since it sounds like he just thinks it's all about him.

I saw it a bit differently - I think the two younger mentors have "cool and young" going for them. I think Nick was trying to present what his strong points were. Watching Nick on his season and his appearances in the years after, and reading his PR Blog, I think he genuinely likes to mentor. If anything, I think he came across as a bit desperate when he realized the designers were all going for the younger mentors. LOL, Nick is too old to be young and cool, and not old and experienced enough to command Tim Gunn kind of respect, even though he's been an instructor.

The mentors are competing as well, with substantial prizes at stake. They had to present their cases to the designers, because if more than one mentor wanted a designer, the designer got to choose. I'm looking forward to week three, when we really get to see their mentoring styles.

I'm jealous of those of you who can watch the show. I'm in Canada and although we have Lifetime Canada channel here we don't get all the same shows on there. When Lifetime first came on here, I was excited to think I'd be able to see some of these shows. No such luck. Still no Project Runway and now no Under the Gunn. Drat, drat, drat!
