I tried searching the boards and came up empty.

Mine have fallen apart and it's time for a new pair.

I've bought leggings material from girlcharlee.com in the past and it's worked out well. The fabric I got from them was marked medium to heavy weight and it was a cotton/rayon/spandex blend. The description mentioned that it would be good for leggings. Unfortunately, that one isn't in stock anymore, but I'd try the site to see if anything else might be suitable.

Search the boards for supplex. I've seen lots of references to this as a suitable fabric for leggings.

Thanks Michelle - since they don't carry it now, I didn't look there.

Is supplex a knit? I'm probably confused about what it is ...

Black Nero Knit from Marcy Tilton

Ponte is out right? What about microfiber knits?

I found this tutorial that has a description of fabric to look for near the end ... She stresses at least 5% spandex.

The knit from Marcy Tilton looks like something I'd use for leggings. She mentions excellent recovery, which is promising. Nothing is worse than baggy butts or knees in nice new leggings!

Another thing to look out for in legging fabric is shine, especially when stretching it. I really, really don't want my um, larger areas shining. Sometimes fabrics that appear to be very matte will shine when stretched.

schmammy - you're right - according to this this thread, supplex can be a woven or a knit. I had no idea!!

Thank you for posting this - here's a link to their cotton lycra (it doesn't really say if it's a knit unless I'm missing something).

I use Spandex World Supplex quite a bit -- I actually made Jalie tights out of it for winter wear under skirts and absolutely love them (still haven't reviewed :tounge:)

I've used both the black and navy but will be getting some swatches of other colours after I get back from vacation.

I also use Suziplex from SuziSpandex in Montreal -- absolutely love this fabric. Just made 2 yoga style pants for hiking in black and have a navy pair cut out. Also have some yoga capris cut out and partially sewn that I need to get done before we leave on vacation. Great for hiking -- lightweight, wicking and quick dry.
