I tried this on last night and it was surprisingly flattering (and nursing friendly!). But, the medium was too big in the neck shoulders bust and the small was too tight in the waist and hips.. (story of my life). I'm pretty sure I've seen a pattern for something like this, but I can't find it now and I haven't been keeping up with the new patterns. Any one have any suggestions? I like that it is sewn together at the neckline.

Thanks!

I hope someone posts a pattern - that top is adorable.

I have a few questions for you:

On the front overlap, are you able to actually stick you hand through there like you would... say, a wrap dress?

Did you notice if there was a side seam? I don't seem to see one in the picture.

Is there a separate hem band at the bottom?

What type of fabric was it? Since you said it was too tight.. it sounds like maybe it did not have a whole lot of stretch?

The first one that popped into my head is this from StyleArc. It would need a couple tweaks but could be a starting point.

The style arc mentioned above comes to mind as well as This hotpatterns

Hotpatterns also has a tee with the hem cowl but is not crossover

Thanks Catina--there was an opening.. Not sure there has to be, but there was. (although it did make it nursing friendly!)

I did not notice if there was a side seam.

I don't recall if it had a band or not. I don't think so though--it wouldn't have draped the same. I bet you could just sew the front and back together to make the bottom "hem".

I actually think the shirt on the model here is too tight too. the draping is not as nice as it could be. It was a lightweight stretch rayon, so it fit, but it didn't drape as nicely. Make sense?

Patty and Speech girl, thanks for the patterns. Even though it doesn't look it, I think the triple torque top might be the best start.

Thanks! I need some easy tops to wear, but drafting this up sounds like so much fun!

There's a blouse in the February 2014 Manequim that has the same front. You can see it on Melissa's blog... look at the 3rd and 4th images in the post. It's a size 42 (Bust 94 cm, Waist 78 cm, Hips 100 cm).

Maybe the top in Simplicity 1588 would work
