I only have 2 yards of 60 inch knit and every pattern I have or seen requires 2-1/4 yards for a maxi skirt with an elastic waist. Even as short as I am and with shortening the pattern I still don't have enough fabric. Does anyone know of a pattern or even a tutorial on making one using 2 yards or less of a knit fabric?

Hi there... the "Ina Maxi Skirt" takes 2 yards up to size Large, and can also squeeze out of 2 yards if you are on the shorter side.

It is being released as a Pattern Review exclusive tomorrow!

Here is a link to the topic post that led up to it all!

Here is member twinset's version when she helped with the beta testing.

I also tested this skirt in the size 3XL and I can tell that this version of twinset , where the godet is cut in the horizontal direction , can even in my size be made with 150cm of 150 cm wide fabric, but that was working precisely.
