Does Surefit Pattern Alteration System Work?

Has anyone out there ever used the Surefit Pattern alteration system? Does it work? I bought the video a couple of years ago; once I received it and watched the video, I just didn't have the guts to try it out. I watched the video again recently and might have the courage to try it. But I would like to hear the opinions of others before I spend the time drafting a pattern for myself. I bought the pants kit.
I am a plus size if that makes any difference.
Thanks for any help you can give!

No help here! I bought the entire system some years back and never used it. I think I was too overwhelmed by the whole thing. It's just so easy for me to work with commercial patterns.

Thanks for answering. I bought the system because I just don't understand pattern alterations. I have looked at books on the subject and all over the internet. Pivoting, slashing, etc. just leaves me shaking my head in confusion. And, for me, making test muslins for everything would take the joy and spontenaity out of sewing and creating. I have no problems sewing if I can use the commercial pattern just as it is. I used to be able to do that years ago when I was much smaller. But now that I am 53 and a fluffy plus size, I cannot do that. That is why I only sew home decor type items now and not very often. ElizabethR

There are some small pattern companies that specialize is plus sizes, with more realistic body measurements, maybe that might be a way to go. some are:
Petites Plus
Silhouette
Sew Grand
Patterns by Coni
You might look them up on the reviews, and see how they have worked for other sewers. There's also a book out called 'Sewing for Plus Sizes' which has received some good reviews. don't give up

I bought the whole kit when Glenda Sparling came to Australia about 10 years ago.

It draughts to the numbers you put in and if you like your clothes loose, then you have to use a couple of sizes larger.

It is not a pattern alteration system though. You still have to alter for say back, round back. It does not really take your figure eccentricities into account

I have never had the time to explore it too much.

I have the dress and the shirt kit. They were actually my Grandmother's (she was using them at least 20 years ago) and I know she used them a lot. I haven't used them yet ......... planning to though!

I just rec'd the pants pattern kit today and I've been looking over it. So far it doesn't look too bad, yet. Next time my DH gets paid, I will get the DVD and the stylus. If my pants work, I will get the dress kit maybe for Christmas.
I have spent about the past year obsessing over fit(shirts) and that is a good thing because I understand it alot better so maybe that is why I don't seem too overwhelmed, yet. I tried the Bonfit system and was very overwhelmed with it. Maybe I was too inexperienced and/or didn't have PR or any sewing friend or the internet.
Also on other threads MissFairchild is the one that (enabled) helped talk me into this also PattiB has done the pants pattern. I will show or review my pants from this Surefit system.

I recently got the Sure Fit dress kit and intended to put it away until after the holidays when I'd have more time to work with it. My curiosity got the better of me though so I took some time this morning to do a fast draft of the bodice front. Even with quickly taken and surely inaccurate measurements and sloppy work the draft looks promising. I have high hopes.

Ok, so far so good with my pants pattern! I had to make muslin # 2 bc I did not measure my crotch length correctly. I'm hoping to post a "work in progress" review.

mhk3boys, let me know how this works for you. I'd be more than happy to provide encouragement, along with Glenda.
