It's my favorite time of year again and I'm busy constructing a Queen of Hearts costume for the DH (yes, you read that right). I'd decided upon a trim for some panels I'm adding to the skirt. I'd like white faux fur trim (not a problem as it's sold by the yard at Joann's) but I'd like it to have an ermine pattern, black dots and slashes.

Anybody have any ideas as to the best way to achieve this? Laundering isn't an issue as these panels will be removable and I'll just spot clean if neccessary. Plus, it's for one evening. Don't know if anybody has attempted to paint on fur. Perhaps I should sew on the designs?

I've never tried anything like this, but the obvious problem is finding something that it will "take" while not getting stiff. Have you tried inks? Silk paints? Permanent marker?

i do a fair amount of fabric painting -- i'd recommend permanent black marker.
