Anyone have a Pfaff 1221 Found one for $45

Machine came with wooden sewing cabinet. I've always had Vikings, but have heard that these old metal machines are good. I don't even know if it works yet. The only problem that can occur is that the part for the straight stich is actually the weak point. After years the straight stitch can start to zig and zag slightly. If yours was well cared for, or unused for a very long time, a tune up should be enough to give you one of the best machines EVER!!! (Jealous!)

I also have a newer Pfaff 1473...which is more useful, but not as much of the good old steel like the older ones. Good luck to you...if you like your Pfaff half as much as I like mine...you're going to be very pleased.

The week point on these machines is the synthetic material in the gears they were using at the time...I think that's the term. I have had one replaced. But this is over a 28 year term of use. Same general line at the time as the 1221. My Mom and mother-in-law had 1221s. You should be able to get good service. BTW - mine has never given me any trouble in that straight stitch. After reading on the boards that that could be a problem I tested mine, and it is just fine. Good luck and post if you have problems.
