Hello everyone..My name is Agatha (Afua is my day name - born on a Friday), live in Vancouver and I am totally impressed! I signed up for the Nov 15th '08 "Beginners" class - Day 1 and I can see myself doing stuff with this already. Thx everyone for all the years of experience you continue to share with all PR members. I am new to the whole idea but I am liking it already..I am hooked..I have been on this for the last 3 hours and time just slipped by...
I sent a referral to my investment club Ladies to take a look and join cos "You Rock".

I really didn't quite know what to expect as this is the first on-line course I've done. It was intended as a refresher course and it certainly fulfilled that role and sorted me out on some basic techniques and considerations. As a beginners course I thought it was well thought out and constructed for the time frame allocated to it. I found the lessons and message boards very useful. There weren't any chat sessions and if there were I may have had a problem due to the time difference between your US time and our Aussie time.

I consider myself an advanced beginner and was dubious about taking the class. I'm glad I took it. I learned a lot and got a lot of good ideas PLUS a great reference notebook of printed class lessons that I can go back to again and again as I sew. My experiences with the class have convinced to take as many of the classes as interest me and as my time permits.

The format of the class worked well in my busy schedule and all the lessons were delivered on time. The really great part was that I could save all the lessons until the weekend when I could actually work on them. I was surprised by how clear and thorough each of the lessons was. This was my first online class and I was a bit skeptical that I could actually learn anything this way. The class was a gift from my daughter and now that I have taken this one, I have signed up for the the next one and will continue to take classes this way. I agree with a couple of the other posts that directions for submitting homework could have been more clear, and perhaps even early on in the class so we know what to look ahead to. I have recommended the class and forwarded the website link to several of my friends. I want to thank Shannon for the tips she gave that were outside the lesson plan (like starting to sew on a piece of scrap fabric, making a a press cloth, pattern weights, etc.) Thanks, too, to all the class members who posted their questions and experiences. I learned something from each one!

This was the first time I had ever taken a online class before. I understand that all online calsses are not the same.
1. The class met all of my expections and then some. I have never sewen before and this was great. I have told alot of my friends about the class. They laughed at me and then I showed them my note book of my lessons. They said that it looked like a great class.
2. I thought that Shannon was on top of what she was teaching. She ansewred my questions so that I understood how to make it work.
3. The format of the lesson was easy to understand. The pictures of how it was to look really helped.
4 I thought the technology was great. I do think there should be a place that tells and explains how to turn in lessons. There were several of us new people that did not understand how to do it.
5. The only thing that I could recommend is maybe a class geared to just men. I felt a little out of place but that is just me. I got over it real quick.
6. I have told a lot of my friends about the classes and sent them the web site to look at.
Thanks again for the help

Since I am just learning to sew this class gave me alot of instructions for a person such as me. The lessons were written where I could easier follow the directions with no problems at all, plus the bonus of downloading them gave me references to use later on in my sewing. The best part of the class was learning how to measure yourself for a pattern and how to increase where you needed it the most.

I enjoyed the course - it provided exactly the information that was outlined in the course outline. The information on fitting was the main draw for me - and I think it will be very helpful.
The format was good - although it took a lot of paper, I was glad I could print it out for reference while doing my sewing. It was written in a conversational tone and was very clear about key details and basic questions of a beginning sewist.
Just what I was looking for - now to take the time to tear apart my previous project and try again with the new fitting tips!
