Discuss Sewing Machines with PR members Sewing Machine Forum | | What Sew Nanny likes about this machine I am in love with this machine! It is a semi-industrial mechanical straight stitch machine and is the smoothest, quietest-running machine I own. There aren't a lot of features on this machine. It has a thread cutter, which works great. It doesn't sound dainty when it cuts -- it makes a solid thunking sound, which I really like. You have the choice of either using the thread cutter on the head of the machine or using the foot pedal with a heel tap. I choose to use the thread cutter on the head of the machine because it's just more convenient for me. It also has a reverse stitch lever, a lever to drop the feed dogs, a needle threader, adjustable presser foot pressure, sliding speed control, needle up/down and a bobbin winder. The TL2010Q also has a very nice extension table. The machine has a very solid feel and my quilt piecing has improved and is more accurate due to using this machine. It comes with two different free motion quilting feet, but I haven't tried free motion quilting on this machine yet. I do plan to try out this function, but I usually fmq on my Bernina using a BSR. It will be interesting to see how they compare. A walking foot is also included with this machine. The lighting is great. It does require frequent, regular oiling, but that hasn't presented a problem for me. I really enjoy taking care of this machine. What Sew Nanny does not like about this machine Nothing. It does the job it was meant to do and does it well. The side loading bobbin is a change for me and was a little awkward at first, but it didn't take me long to get the hang of it. | *LOGIN to add a comment to this review *Only registered members can post comments to the reviews. Thanks for a nice review full of good information. I hope you'll find the time to do some FMQ and update this review about your experience.

I was happy to see your review, and learn how quiet it is, and how it actually has improved your piecing! Thanks, and hoping you years of happy sewing with it.

Did you buy online, if so where?

I'm so glad to see that you love this machine as much as I do! Yay!

I bought it from a nearby Juki dealer.

Thanks for the review. This machine is still on my want list!

Wow, great price! The dealer I went to wanted $1100 for it.

I just looked on eBay and there are some for the same price I paid.

I will definitely be purchasing online once I get my funds for it. Local prices are just too high. Glad to hear you like this machine so much, I can't wait to get mine!

When I first heard my thread cutter it gave me a real start, but I got used to it! Your machine sounds wonderful. Have fun with it. These machines are so enticing...:) Yes, please report on FMQ on this machine.

Curious if the heel tap to cut threads, given you sew on a Bernina where that is a WAY different function... Has this given you grief? I would LOVE to have one of these... but I am a 'nina girl myself and worry that I would cut when all I really wanted was NEEDLE UP! Thanks for a thorough review.. so many are lacking in user information...

I just ignore the heel tap function on this foot pedal, because I know I'll get confused going from one machine to the other. When you use the thread cutter on the Juki, it cuts the thread and also raises the needle. Love this!

I too find the bobbin loading a bit awkward, especially as I have large hands, but am getting the hang of it. This is a lovely free motion machine. My only wish is that the top tension could be dialed lower as it is set too low as a factory default. I remedied this by adjusting my bobbin tension.

Sew Nanny, have you FMQ on it? I'm interested in this machine and want it only if it does well with this. I bought the Janome 1000 and it is giving me a fit!

I've only done just a little FMQing on this machine, so I'm certainly no expert. There is a thread on the message board under Sewing Machines that goes into some detail on this subject that might be helpful.
