What trennag likes about this machine Let me start by saying that I LOVE this machine! I learned how to sew when I was in the seventh grade but didn't really stick with it. When I found out I was having a baby I decided I wanted to make him a quilt and started sewing again. I stared with a Walmart brother machine that I loved and it did really well for me. I realized that I had out grown that machine and was wanting more so I started my hunt for the perfect machine. I knew that I wanted/needed a larger throat space and wanted a machine that came with all the quilting accessories. I look at a few other brands but the test drive and dealer are what sold me. After completing 4 quilt tops 2 finished quilts and several other projects I feel like I can give a good review.
Some of my favorite features:
~Auto thread cutter (how did i ever live with out this!)
~The auto pivot foot. Amazing for corners and curves!
~The lighting. I feel like there is such great lighting on this machine. I recently used a different machine and it really makes a difference.
~Its so quiet. I used to sew in the living room and my husband was always complaining about being able to hear the tv.
~The screen. Its large and easy to use. Comes with a styles but I find my finger works just fine.
~The independent bobbin winder motor!!! So awesome to not have to unthread my machine to wind a new bobbin.
~The bobbin thread sensor. Gone are the days of sewing whole seams with no bobbin thread!
I have many more but it would take eons to list them all. I truly can not say enough good things about this machine. I did 2 years of searching before I finally purchased my Symphony and it was so worth it. The Symphony is such a user friendly machine. Right out of the box I was able to set it up and sew within a few minutes. The on screen quick reference guide is so helpful as well as the trouble shooting. I look forward to many years of great sewing and quilting with this machine!
What trennag does not like about this machine Its not really something I don't like but i feel is worth mentioning. After putting maybe 60 hours of sewing on the my symphony it was making a really weird noise and seemed really bogged down. I took it to my dealer the next day and they said it was my main motor. I was devastated... how could a brand new machine already need a new motor!! My dealer was amazing and said they would order the part Monday and get it replaced as soon as it came in. I called Baby Lock and they assured me that my machine was covered under warranty. When I picked up my machine I talked to my dealer because I was worried I got a lemon. They told me that they have sold and seen many machines and have only had a couple have the motor need to be replaced and nothing else was wrong with the machine. I am so thankful that my dealer was so helpful! |

Sounds like the Symphony was well-named based upon your review...nicely done.

Excellent review and I am so happy that your dealer was so conscientious about this machine! Tells me good things about Babylock!

I am a dealer for babylock in Virginia Beach, Va and have sold 8 of the Symphonies and never had a warranty issue, (did I just jinx myself?), Your motor problem was doubtless a rare occurance. I am happy to hear that my fellow dealer took good care of you!

Eriktate I have taken two classes since and the employees all asked how she was running now and all were shocked that it had happened. I'm very happy with the service! Love my baby lock!

Great review, I also love my Symphony, just brought it back from its first yearly service. All is wonderful and it didn't cost me a dime :)

Thanks for the review. I am thinking of this one to upgrade from my BL Quilters Choice

I also am thinking of upgrading to a Symphony from my Quest Plus. I just haven't decided if the change is worth the extra cost--my Quest has been a wonderful machine. Thanks so much for your review. Also, the Symphony by BL is supposedly the same as the Laura Ashley by Brother. Is there any difference?
