|What Handshake likes about this machine|
3-speed slider (I still have not used the fastest speed)
Needle up/down button (brilliant)
Drop in bobbin with clear cover (see how much lower thread you have left)
Pressure foot has up-up position
Easy way to change stitch length/width. If you want to go back to default settings for the next sewing thing, just switch it off and on again.
Best of all: stitched new jeans hems with ease today. No problem whatsoever with so many layers of denim. It laughed at the challenge.
Easy bobbin winding
Reverse button (you have to hold it down)
Range of stitches including 3 different one-step buttonholes. Buttonhole construction stops automatically, then you can make another right on top of the first one if one layer is not enough.
Thread cutter is superior - just swipe and it's cut
Dust cover provided
What Handshake does not like about this machine
Needle threader is so tricky that I only tried it twice. Threading by hand is quicker.
Buttonholes, while superior to my old Brother machine, are still not as good as the previous Singer. Maybe I just need to practice more.
I was disappointed that the storage space (in the slide-out arm) did not have little slots for all the accessories. Maybe I looked at the wrong review.
The foot pedal took some getting used to; the angle for operation is different from the Brother.
NB: price shown had to be converted to US$, I don't know why. I paid GB£ about 380.
