I've always been frustrated at measuring seam lines using the usual technique, holding the measuring tape on its edge. Measuring tapes are floppy and don't really work well unless you're very, very meticulous, and then the measuring takes forever.

I'm sewing a very fine poly jersey, and the fabric, as it feeds along the throatplate, is snagging on the edges of the sunk holes along the side that keep the screws holding the throatplate out of the fabric feed. Grrr!

How many times have I taken a chance by doing something finicky like setting in a sleeve using a nearly empty bobbin, only to find out that it ran out of thread halfway through, and all my pinning is gone?
