Don't throw out that old scanner!!!
I took an old scanner from a prehistortic computer system we had laying around and converted it into a LIGHT BOX. I removed the glass top portion of the scanner from the base... It required a not so gentle hand...but I was determined to get it opened. Once opened I removed all the inner guts...it ... more...

They are super thin...clear...and plastic...
I have a new passion it is needle turn applique and wool applique... My pattern pieces and fabric/wool pieces can be rather small. Empty tissue boxes
I have several sewing stations... on the first floor and also on the second floor... When I have an empty tissue box I place it near my sewing machine and the thread and fabric snips are placed in it...when the box is full I toss it in the recycle bin... Helps keep my sewing areas not so messy anymo... more...
