reading emeraldjul's tip on making cording reminded me of a couple of ways to speed up the twisting -
1. use a drill - battery or electric, as long as it's a variable speed so you have more control

Sometimes even when using a magnifier, I have trouble seeing the stitches I need to remove. small seam rippers are nice to use in small areas, but I find them a bit harder to control, as they also have smaller handles. I have taken a small seam ripper and mounted it into a wooden dowel.
