My sewing teacher taught me to sew two parallel lines at the sleeve head by machine and then draw up the threads until the sleeve fits into the armhole. I always had trouble with this method. This week I put some zippered pockets on to a skirt. When I sewed in the first zip I got the pocket bag caught in the stitches, so I had to rip it all out and start again.
