|Fabrics on Fourth |
It's one of the few fabric stores on Fourth that's open on Sunday. And what a treat to spend some time with Mr. James, the proprietor.
Apparently March is the beginning of prom season. He was cutting out - freehand - black silk satin and lining for one of his amazing creations. More on this later.

|Vogue Patterns - 8646 Misses' Dress |
This is your basic wrap dress in either a sleeveless or 3/4 sleeve version. It's meant for wovens, but I've made it three times in knits.
I made it in a 14, a bit smaller than my usual bodice pattern size.

I stumbled upon this store via Yelp since the other fabric stores near where I was staying were all closed on Sunday. It's great fun.
I bought a skin of leather ($20), two yards of stretch animal print with a slight fur to it (don't ask) for $6.99 a yard, several yards of silk (for tank tops) at $...more...

Pattern Description: Form fitting dress with interesting folded neckline technique
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Surprisingly, the odd neck folds were quite easy to understand.
