| RTW Contest Winners | By Deepika on 8/21/09 3:37 PM |
As the name suggests, the objective of this contest was to copy or create a garment inspired by Ready-to-wear or a Designer collection that could be worn by a child or an adult.
The contest featured 32 participants. Many of the entries were dresses with a smattering of tunics, jackets and pants, from a variety of sources. What inspiration!
Lets meet the winners, shall we?
First Prize: Rocketboy (aka BrianSews) For Self Drafted Pattern: 125946-1000 (Inspired by Levi's 514)

BrianSews loves his Levi's 514 jeans, with a low rise and a straight leg, but he thought he could improve on this style for a better look. His philosophy
"I believe clothing is meant to be moved in; proper fitting garments look good no matter how I sit, lean, bend or stand."
Brian included more than 100 photos to detail the construction process on this, his fourth RTW jeans copy. Practice makes perfect for a perfect look!
| Second Prize:CynthiaSue
For McCall: 5060 (Misses'/Miss Petite Lined Coat).

Cynthia started with McCalls 5060 for the base jacket, but, by the time she was through, she had improved on the original! She added a peplum, puff sleeves with a sleeve stay and welt pockets. She altered the collar and lapel shape and topstitched most seams to give a flat-felled looks. What a transformation! |

| New Feature - Link Threads and more to Patterns | By Deepika on 8/17/09 4:14 PM |
We all know how much valuable info gets lost in the message board threads. So now we have an easy way of linking relevant message board threads to Patterns.
The links will show up both on the pattern pages as well as all the review. This will be expanded to other reviews (s/m reviews, store etc) soon.
The links will be reviewed before they are made live. Here's how to get started.
1. If you find a message board thread which you want to link to a pattern, select the thread URL and copy it.
2. Go to the pattern review or the pattern page and in the "Related Links" block you'll see this icon.
3. Click on it to add the link. Give it a name and you're all set!
