Amy Butler Gum Drop Pillows
Easy to make, yet dramatic in style. Large, comfy and cool
pillows and even larger ottoman sizes. Eye candy for your home!
Materials List
FOR THE 24" GUM DROP PILLOW / OTTOMAN
Allow extra yardage for centering or matching a design on your fabric.
For 44” wide light to mid-weight fabric OR 54” heavier Home Dec fabric
- If using one fabric - 2 1/4 yards for the Main and Top Panels
OR
- If using 2 coordinating fabrics - 1 1/8 yards of each fabric for the Main Panels
- 10” x 10” piece of a 3rd coordinating fabric for the Top Panel
PLUS
- 10 12 oz. bags of Nature-fil®
(This is a all natural premium fiberfill from Fairfield)
- 10” x 10” piece of lightweight sew-in interfacing
- 1 spool of coordinating all-purpose thread
(We use Coats Dual Duty Plus®)
Finished size: 24” wide x 12” tall

Easy & Great for Beginners
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?Yeppers! This turned out exactly how I wanted it. I have made both sizes the small 18 inch and the large 24 inch. Both look just like the photo on the pattern cover.

Yes! If you line up the fabric pattern for each piece it looks wonderful when finished. I did the 24" size.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes, typical wordy AB but no questions.

Edited to Add: Someone on our sewing blog suggested that we take a tip from the construction of a punching bag. Punching bags are constructed with fabric scraps in the center, with fiber fill all around. If you've ever felt a punching bag, they're very firm, which is exactly what you want with an ot
