What Peace36love likes about this machine I won this machine at the Quilt Expo in Atlanta this year and I can tell you this it is a little workhorse. I really doesn't do much but a straight stitch or a zig-zag but it can really sew. I had a pc 420 PRW and I hate to say it but it sews better than the Brother. The only feature it has is you can drop the feed dogs which is great, I bought a darning foot for my PC-420 and it works on the Viking. At least I can do free motion quilting with it. I think it is a great starter machine for anybody. It also has a manual needle threader, which you have to make sure the needle is in the highest position for it to work. All in all I think it is a good little machine.
UPDATE... I just recently went to Discover Sewing in Atlanta and the lady at the store showed me how to achieve the various stitches. They are one of the sponsors of the Quilt Expo, where the machine came from.. What Peace36love does not like about this machine The manual sucks. The machine is manual and it gives you a little pull out on the bottom of the machine for different stitches and what foot to use, however it does not explain the stitch functions and how to do the different stitches (16 in all ). It is a very basic machine, but well made. |

I used to have this machine years ago and it has a good range of utilitarian stitches and some stretch stitches and an auto buttonhole foot. I found it was a good size for travel as well. I sewed all sorts of things on it including making cushion covers from left over curtain fabric for our living room, clothing, patchwork quilts. You're lucky to have won it, I think for an inexpensive little machine it is a good one.
