What Sew Nanny likes about this machine I bought this used machine on eBay. According to the seller, it had been used very little. When the machine arrived, the ring around the looper knob seemed very loose. I had it checked out by my local Babylock dealer. He said it was fine -- just needed a little tension adjustment and the fact that the ring was loose wasn't a problem. Before buying this machine, I owned a Bernina 1300MDC serger, which converts to a coverstitch. I didn't like having to do all the steps necessary to convert, so I decided to sell the Bernina. I had read so many rave reviews about Babylock sergers that I decided to buy a new Babylock Enlighten. I was so impressed with the Enlighten that I decided my next purchase would be a Babylock coverstitch machine. The dealer I bought my Enlighten from wanted $1499 for the newer model Babylock BLSC-2. I decided to take a chance and bought this used older model instead. The clear foot also came with this machine and I'm using it as my main foot of choice because of the greater visibility provided when using this foot.
The BLCS is very easy to thread. There is only one looper, which is threaded automatically with the Jet Air threading system at the push of a button. The BLCS has presser foot pressure adjustment, a stitch length adjusting dial and differential feed. There are three needle tension dials and a looper tension dial. The manual gives detailed information on how to thread the machine for each stitch. The stitch selections include a 4-Thread Triple Coverstitch, 3-Thread Narrow Coverstitch, 3-Thread Wide Coverstitch and 2-Thread Chain Stitch. The BLCS does its job very well and I'm glad I went with another Babylock product. What Sew Nanny does not like about this machine Nothing so far. |
