What pamyjo2001 likes about this machine I just love this machine and know that I will always have a Janome in my sewing room. There have been other reviews so I will only list the things that I make it truly stand out for me. Even after 2.5 years I still have not used all the features (work gets in the way of my creativity - lol)
First - this machine is an absolute workhorse. I don't have to be gentle with it like my Pfaff Creative Sensation (my mindset).
It sews and it sews well. The only time I have had to modify the tension is when I am using my 30 weight thread (which I use most of the time). I can use any kind of thread or fabric and it forms a perfect stitch every time.
It came with all the feet I think I will ever need unlike my Pfaff. It also has the storage to store all the feet neatly. It also came with an extension table and a cloth guide and free arm.
I appreciate the thought Janome gave to the accessories. You have a regular screw driver then you have this flat little screw driver that allows you to get in the tight spaces where some of the screws reside.
Harp space - I believe it is right under 12 inches.
Well built. I used this machine at full speed on a cheap plastic table and the machine did not move. It such a quiet machine
Lighting is amazing - even in the dark I can stitch with just the lights on my machine.
Love the red face plate
The extra presser foot lifter is a welcome feature that I use quite often.
Needle up/down. Lock stitch. Auto thread cutter. Needle threader.
Love the dual feed (acu feed).
Love the variety of stitches - 250 of them I believe.
I love Janome's honesty. Right after I bought my machine it was determined by some user(s) that one of the feet did not work as it should but I knew nothing about it. I received a letter from Janome telling me of the issue and that I would be receiving a new improved foot within a month or two. This is a company that understands customer service. What pamyjo2001 does not like about this machine I am not fond of the tactile dial I would prefer being able to enter my stitch number directly. I am used to it and it is not a huge problem.
Auto converter plate - I would prefer a separate straight stitch plate. If you forget to disengage the converter thingy and remove the stitch plate you can not replace the stitch plate without turning the machine on and off. I am used to it now.
Sometimes it can be cumbersome to change the foot holder (not sure what it's called) but again I am used to it now. |

Nice review. I'm surprised by your comment about the auto converter plate. I thought that was one of the big selling points for this machine. Glad you are adapting to your less favorite features and enjoying your Janome.

Excellent review, very thoughtful - so happy you are enjoying using your machine. I 2nd ALL that you have written, it's spot on correct, I could have written it myself! =0) I too have a 7700, since May 2012, still love her, great machine does all I ask her to do. The APC did take some getting use to but it is a marvel of engineering and works so well. I still have my older Pfaff 6122 mechanical machine which I kept for classes, the 7700 is way too big to haul anywhere! I noticed there are two separate review headers for this model: 7700 as you've listed and has 4 reviews, then listed as: Horizon 7700 QCP, which has 12 reviews.

michelenh - yes get it out of the box. You are missing a wonderful sewing experience. @KPM - the auto converter plate is a nice feature but because I quite often forget to disengage. Would this stop me from getting this machine again - NEVER. I truly love this machine.
