|What Lookingpast likes about this machine|
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this Bernina!!!! I bought it originally as a "take-to-class" machine; at that time I had a 730 and the 330 was just a backup machine. I quickly fell in love with my 330. I love how easy it is to thread and how straightforward the controls are. I am a huge fan of vertical bobbin feeds (and not at all fond of drop-in bobbins) and this one is just marvelous to use.
The 330 became my main machine for several months while my 730 was in the shop and she did absolutely everything I asked her to--bulky seams, no problem, edge stitching, no problem, buttonholes are super easy. While she was my main machine, I sewed garments, pieced quilt tops, worked on home decor projects like pillows and curtains and she never even blinked. I free-motion quilt all my quilts and she's just a delight to use for free-motion.
I love that I can use all my Bernina feet on this machine--and I can use my huge collection of snap-on feet from other machines, too! I wasn't sure about them at first, (mostly because of the cost) but I've become a huge fan of Bernina feet--they're solid, easy to change, and the right foot really makes the job easier.
My 9-year old granddaughter also sews on my 330 (when her mom is using her Kenmore!) and she loves the 330 also. She says that the best thing about it is the adjustable speed control.
My friends laugh at me because when I've been sewing on the 780 for a while then switch to the 330, I'm always looking for the button to lower the foot. It works the other way, too, when I've been sewing on the 330 and switch to the 780, I'm always looking for the pressure foot lever! I love both machines, but the 330 is special because I can easily take her with me!
After reading some of the other reviews, I'm more convinced than ever that having the right dealer is CRITICAL! Reading about other sewers' experiences with their dealers gives me the shakes. I have an excellent dealer and have never experienced some of the things other Bernina owners write about. My dealer has always been there for me; they have great guide classes that I can take over and over again if I want, they've never hesitated to let me talk to a technician when I need to, and have always gone 'over the top' as far as customer service goes. My dealer also sells Brothers and, from what I can tell, their Brother customers are equally happy. My dealer is Sew Contempo on Egret Bay Blvd in Houston, Texas and they are about the only dealer I deal with!
What Lookingpast does not like about this machine
Can't think of a thing I'd change about my 330. It's just a great little sewing machine.
