These are a pack of 50 Serger OR Embroidery reference cards from Nancy's Notions. I only have the serger cards but thought I'd point out to all the machine embroiderers that they have cards for them too.

What is this notion used for?
For quickly jotting down all of your machine's settings and threads used on any particular serger or embroidery technique. Everything is listed on the cards. All you have to do is fill the blanks that pertain to what you've done.

Did you get your money's worth after the purchase?
I realize I could use regular index cards for the same purpose but these have all the info listed and all I have to do is fill in some of the blank lines. It's quick and easy. If you zoom in on the cards at the links I provided above you can see what I mean. Also, a sample of your stitching can be stapled to the card.

Is this notion easily available?
Yes, from Nancy's Notions and by doing a quick search for serger reference cards I found them elsewhere on the Internet for the same price.

Would you recommend it to others?
Absolutely. I happened across these soon after getting my first serger. With sergers the settings and the possiblities of what we can do and the gorgeous thread we can use is almost endless. I love that I can reference certain creative stitches and look up how I did what I did and with what serger (have 3 now) and what thread I used in what needle or looper. I should add that I don't reference most serging that I do but do for the unique out of the ordinary.

I don't embroider but I imagine the same holds true for the embroidery reference cards.

I absolutely LOVE these. I went a step further and scanned a blank card into my computer. I print out about 10 pages at a time and put them in my serger binder for later use. I can't tell you how helpful they are when going to a class or watching sewing TV shows. Instead of scribbing notes in the order of how the teacher gives the information I fill in the forms on my scanned sheets from Nancy's cards. I know at a glance if I am missing a critical setting (or if the Educator forgot to mention it) and I can ask for it. They are a life saver and worth the small investment. The cards are perfect if you prefer saving information an index recipe type box instead of a binder notebook.
