Fabric:Rayon Poly Woven  [See other projects in this fabric]
Pattern Description: This is a "Very Easy Vogue" pattern for a loose-fitting top with front neck pleats and a center back band with decorative buttons running down its length. The back also features a modest, yet sexy open V with a strap across the top. This pattern was featured in the June/July issue of Vogue Patterns magazine, which was what inspired me to make it.

Pattern Sizing: This pattern comes in XS-S-M or L-XL-XXL. My measurements fell between M and L and since you have to pull this blouse over your head to get it on and off, I went with L. It fits very comfortably, drapes nicely, and I can get it on and off easily, so I think I chose the right size.

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes. I made View A and it to me it looks exactly like the rendering on the pattern envelope and the photos in Vogue Patterns magazine.

Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes. The instructions and diagrams are very clear and easy to follow. I had no problem even though I had gotten away from garment sewing for about three years (learning quilting, applique and embroidery). This pattern has definitely re-ignited my passion for garment sewing.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I did not dislike anything about this pattern. I very much appreciated that the pattern was well-drafted and had clear instructions and diagrams. My favorite part was turning the back strap and the back band because I discovered the wonder of "Fasturns" (which I've had in my sewing room for years - never opened). OMG - how fun are those gizmos!

Fabric Used: This is a very drapey, billowy fabric which I believe is a woven rayon-poly blend. It's been in my stash for a long time and I think it was one of those rare finds at Joann's. It has a tropical floral motif with chocolate brown, cream, taupe and orange-yellows as its color palette. This fabric feels so very soft and cool against my skin - just perfect for summer.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I made no alterations to the pattern. The only design changes I made were: 1) used a decorative (floral) topstitch down both sides of the back band, and 2) used 5/8" (pearly white, floral shaped) buttons instead of 1/2" buttons as the pattern suggests.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I may make View B next if I find the perfect fabric for it. I highly recommend this pattern, especially for a beginner because the result will help build sewing confidence.

Conclusion: This is a great pattern for any level sewist. The blouse is so pretty, even though it is easy to make.
