|Pattern Description: Toddler girl's romper with heart shaped bib and coordinating pin tucked, button front dress with short puff sleeves, collar and optional appliqué detail.|
Pattern Sizing:Toddler size 1
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?Yes
Were the instructions easy to follow?Yes
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?Love the pin tucks, classic styling. The pattern pieces are basically rectangles with marks for the tucks, then you use another pattern piece as a guide to cut the shoulder and armscye once the tucks are top stitched. Everything went together quickly, even the collar. The only thing I didn't like was the button placket is sort of an afterthought with no facing, you just turn under and edge finish. Makes the top button area a little wonky.
Fabric Used:Out to Sea border print by Sarah Jane and some leftover polka dot scraps for the collar and cuff piping.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:Added piping to collar and cuffs.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Don't think I'll make another since my daughter's almost too big for it, but I totally recommend it if you see it for sale.
Conclusion: This was fun to sew. I like Carter's just as much as everyone else but these vintage patterns are so sweet. You can find tons of them on etsy. Don't be intimidated by unfamiliar design details. These patterns were made for home sewers with less sophisticated tools and machines, so usually they're pretty easy to sew. Try one and enjoy.
