|Fabric:||Chambray [See other projects in this fabric]|
|Pattern Description: From the pattern envelope "Show-Me! McCall's easiest patterns with the detailed step-by-step instruction booklet". This was true, a total beginner could have followed the directions and made this dress as a first project.|
Pattern Sizing:10-12-14. I cut the largest size and added a bit extra to the side seams at the waist.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?yes, just like it.
Were the instructions easy to follow?VERY easy. There is an 11 page booklet of instructions. The first 4 pages are all about fitting, marking, pretreating fabric, grainlines, cutting, and basic sewing. The rest of the booklet is detailed construction directions with drawings for each step.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? The design is very plain. The skirt is bias and has lots of twirl factor without being bulky at the waist (where most of my personal bulk is, so love that feature). It also has pockets which is nice. I would make it again in a print fabric.
Fabric Used: Cotton chambray.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I shortened the skirt as the pictured skirt is well below the knee of the model. Mine is just below my knee.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I would sew it again, it was very easy. I'll make one in a print next time. I would recommend it to others although it is OOP, when trying to date my pattern I could not find a date anywhere - I would guess 80s but not sure. I saw a few for sale online for $18 - 20. The original price when I bought it was $0.95 !
Conclusion: A simple easy to sew sundress. I like it!
