Be careful, Sew Jane, once you spoil them with home-sewn boxers they will bug you to make a few dozen new ones every time they grow! :-)

Deepika, they have side seams but no pockets - easy enough to add though.

I have made this pattern many, many times for my DH. Usually motivated by a fabulous fabric that I can't pass up. I will use Gigi's suggestions about trimming. I've stayed pretty close to the pattern instructions with the exception of the drawstring (I don't put one in). I serge the top edge before making the casing; I don't turn under 1/4" when I do this.
