Hi Amy T - Shapewell seems to be an Australian thing - it's a woven sew-in interfacing used for formalwear. It's great for fitted garments to provide structure and also to put in fabric bags. I have found it in a few weights. I think it's cotton. The acetate went on the top, the cotton underneath and the shapewell under that. Ryan's mom - hopefully i can get a picture if i didn't cause a bridal meltdown by making the pattern go the wrong way...

The outfit looks lovely. Any chance you can post a pic with her in it? I love looking at formalwear.

VERY pretty! Do you know the US equivalent of "shapewell" underlining? I need something like this.

Very nice! The sideways pattern is very subtle and the bride may not even notice. I've never heard of shapewell--what is it? It sounds like you underlined the acetate with two layers, the poplin and the shapewell, is that right?
