This looks fabulous. I love the rows of topstitching in a different color. They look perfect.

Your neckline came out really nice on this. I think that on some of these plus sized patterns, there is so much ease, it's a good idea to make a center back seam so that you can take in that back if needed. I also don't think that setting in the sleeves flat would cause much of a sleeve fitting issue either.

Beautiful topstitching! it's amazing how profession just that extra can look.

I have made this top and really liked the fit, but my arms are thin for my size. It definitely could use some shaping in back. I think a center back seam would help. I wonder if the armhole problem is related to the depth. This pattern is drafted for someone 5'6", but if she is shorter or taller the armhole may be wrong for her. If it is too long, it will feel too tight, with a pulling sensation in the upper arm part of the sleeve. But if it is too short it will also feel tight but in a different way. If she has a top with a good fit you can compare the pattern and see where the adjustment should be made. You are a super friend to make this for her!

Mini, thanks for the suggestions, I'll take a look at that when I can get her over for more fittings...thinking about it, (after having taken one of Cynthia Guffey's fit classes) I actually think that the problem has to do with shoulder slope more than the armhole size, it just didn't occur to me when I was writing up my review.
