Cool bag Mary. I am laughing as well as it reminded me of when I decided to make a cloth book for my grandson and no way was the SM going to sew all those layers of fabric together. I am about to embark on some bag sewing and I thought that this looked a great pattern now I know what too look out for. Thanks for all the info.

Mary - take the bags to a furniture re-upholstery shop or find someone else with an industrial machine and they may be able to get through the layers for you. I foolishy agreed to make velvet pillows with thick gimp trim for a friend once and that's what bailed me out. If you look sad and tell them it if for your DD who finally likes something, they may not even charge you!

Don't you wonder sometimes if the pattern companies actually sew some of the patterns they sell? They are really cute, Mary. I hope you canwork something out. I think the idea of the upholsterer is a good one.

They look so good, you have to find a way of finishing them. How about changing the tabs to lightweight fabric and sweet talking your Elna?

These are fabulous bags. I hope you find some way of finishing them. Laughed so hard my own teenage dd came to see what was so funny. She loved the denim bag too.

Oh, MaryT, you are too funny! I wish I had your wit the last time I tried to make a accessory like this with uphostery fabric. My machine ended up in the shop needing $150 worth of repairs.

Great review and love the humour. I could actually hear Rod Serling's voice!!!In spite of all of this, the bags look great. Tips above about upholstery shop are good. Also check out Bags with Style, there is an alternative to those lopps to try but still requires some sewing.
